HD-DVD 30GB Disc as imaged under the Ergonom 500 microscope
The above images show the control tracks and data as seen on a 30GB High Definition DVD (dual layer) after removing the protective cover. According to the manufacturer, these features could not be made visible by SEM, Confocal or any other microscope method they tried. This demonstrates the usefulness of the Ergonom microscope in quality control processes.
The above images are individual frames taken from the original PAL video recording made in real time with the Ergonom 500 using reflected light and dry lenses (no oil immersion or staining used).
The original film shows the imaging and the ability to focus through to the individual layers of the disc in real time.
